  1. I’m perfectly aware of how things on Internet work. Sometimes writing a post one week later than it should have been done makes it uninteresting ‘cuz a myriad of people talked about it before. On the other hand, when we’re talking about impressive music, even more if it’s a first impression, it’s anytime welcome. Or am I completely wrong? The main point here is that I was randomly listening to things I had scheduled, and this specific release made me stop what I was doing, lift my head and going to PC to see what was on the playlist (in the end, eventually ended on tumblr). Cheap talking forward, rkss is a Berliner who put out his debut EP last week. From all these three, the entitling is the one. Astonishing with its mixed and delayed beats on purpose, fits the current that has been having success and support especially from last year to now - the renewal of techno with fresh blood [it’s an apart, but I find it somehow similar with TA’s work and artists]. Fresher than a 19 year old boy is difficult to get (however, not impossible). After “Basement” are “Push” and “Far”. They’re lounge-friendly, having some resemblances with pouring rain and sleepless nights. He made a good start. We’ll stay up to see what comes next.

  3. One year passed since Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross’ debut on Mad Decent. “Blow” EP was well received all over the world, so here comes a sort of take two, a second look on some of its songs made by acclaimed electronic acts from today. Shlohmo, Dntel, The Get, Arrange, Stenchman and JayceK remixed “Blacks” (the first three) and “White Sun” (the last three). The promo minimix made is the one streamed above, and Dntel remix can be fully listened here. It’s out today on digital stores. Probably you’ll like some of them more than the others; even so, they got a breathe of fresh air.

  4. Regardless this album title sounds like a lapalissade, as we look deeply, and further than appearances, we get good surprises. Zanshin’s music comes from Vienna, where he’s affiliated to Affine Records. His work’s a blend of angelical melodies (in some parts he plays the organ and the piano, so that’s why it has a tiny touch of Church music) with German rational techno interrupted by beats. Sounds messy but it’s not, and makes sense accordingly to his bio. «As its roots are found in asian martial arts, it is hinting at a certain kind of vigilance and alertness, ready to react in any given situation.». So that’s from where beats come from. Another particular point is finding dub, similar of those from formerly witch-house producers… I end quoting this sentence I found peculiar «Zanshin is an idea, more a concept than a name, meaning “the heart that remains”.». In summary, Zanshin is truly an experimenter, an electronic music cuddle.

  5. We’ve been following boy producer eLan career on Monkeytown. After several acclaimed EP’s he finally made there his debut album, positively reviewed on mass media. However, before being signed to that label, he was working on a spilt record with DJ Pound. One that saw daylight last month. It wasn’t unexpected at all that it would contain a certain load of hip-hop. After all, that’s what eLan is all about: beats. And he made diverse collabs in the past with hip-hop producers (in a bigger or minor degree). Here  are his smooth melodies capable of putting aside a stressing day. “Baby” is particularly charming. After listening to it you’ll say if it brings you or not golden  childhood memories. A last word for DJ Pound - he’s deeply into the genre, and better than words is the video below of him rollin’ and scratching at the EP’s release party.

  6. Awesome news from Young Montana?, who’s giving away a taste of the just baked piece. A slice of hip-hop and another of beats were cooked together, and that’s what resulted: a melody.

  7. Carnivals is the project developed by the young Sheffield-settled producer Stew Green. Stew is a boy yet, however, today more than never, age is not anymore a barrier when it refers to music. Released last January, “Absences/Ino (Parts 1 & 2)” EP is the kind of soundscape I was already missing and craving since some months ago. He plays perfectly well with his assumed influences (predictably, Four Tet, DJ Shadow, Caribou and Burial are in the list). And it’s enchanting the way he plays the guitars (not referred, but some Foals in there, isn’t it?). The artist determined all of his releases so far are to be enjoyed for free, and so it is.

  9. Today this teaser won my heart. The snippet reports to Soosh’s (who’s a Glasgow-based producer) forthcoming 2nd EP. “SoFar” is due to March, the 19th 2012 on Fremdtunes (which is, btw, Father’s Day - at least here). Not surprisingly I found it via Outlier Recordings. And I’m saying it as Soosh’s chopped and cropped beats could perfectly well fit that label too. Far beyond depleting all the melodies with the originals, various remixers were invited to join the feast. They were Londoners Greenwood Sharps and Kelpe, respectively remixing “Us” and “Speechless”, a young Dutch named Jameszoo, who put his hands on “Us” too, and Danish producer Sekuoia with a digital exclusive for “Everything You Say”.
